Tar Filters for Hand-Rolled and Standard Cigarettes

Tar filters – Cigarette filters with improved filtration

The tar filters for cigarettes in this selection are compatible with two types: hand-rolled cigarettes and standard factory-made cigarettes. David Ross models add a filtering barrier to a cigarette that already has a filter, while Jilter paper and cellulose-fibre filters are incorporated into the roll. The fitting method, diameter and packaging help you choose the appropriate reference.

Choose according to the cigarette and fitting method

The David Ross Minifilter RYO has an internal diameter of approximately 6 mm and is approximately 26 mm long. It is placed at the end of a hand-rolled cigarette fitted with a slim or regular filter. The David Ross Micro Filter has an internal diameter of approximately 8 mm and is 24 mm long; it attaches to the existing filter of a standard factory-made cigarette. Jilter filters are intended for hand-rolled cigarettes and are made of paper and cellulose fibres.

Filtering barrier and David Ross usage guide

David Ross models are made of plastic and feature an internal barrier that retains some of the deposits produced by combustion. The stated reduction can reach 60% for tar, nicotine and particles. An internal element gradually darkens with use. On the Minifilter RYO, full insertion increases filtration while tightening the draw; leaving a small gap changes the balance between filtration and draw resistance.

Pack sizes and usage period

Each of the two David Ross references contains 10 filters made in Italy. A filter can be used for approximately 5 to 10 cigarettes depending on the tobacco, intensity of use and retained deposits. The Jilter ECO Bag contains 1000 filters. The pouch and its viewing window are compostable after removing the handle.
