Activated carbon filters – Rolling filters with activated carbon

How activated carbon filtration works

Activated carbon is a porous material placed at the core of the filter. In many references, it is obtained from coconut shells. As smoke passes through, it retains some of the particles and residues produced by combustion. Depending on the model, this filtration may also result in smoke perceived as cooler and drier, while preserving the perception of aromas.

Diameters, lengths and compatibility

The 5 mm diameter corresponds to the Super Slim format. The 5.9 and 6 mm sizes cover Slim and Xtra Slim references, 7 mm denotes Slim Size and 9 mm Regular. The lengths represented range from 25 to 36 mm. A conical model tapers from 5.4 to 5.9 mm to provide a flared shape. For a pipe, use only a 9 mm reference explicitly indicated as compatible.

Ceramic, cellulose, fibre or paper mouthpieces

On several models, a ceramic piece is fitted to each end. The filter can then be inserted in either direction and, for the relevant references, these mouthpieces are heat-resistant. Hybrid filters combine activated carbon with cellulose mouthpieces or vegan fibre caps. The selection also includes paper mouthpieces and a model with prismatic airflow.

Packaging, finishes and special designs

PURIZE, Kailar, Medusafilters and GIZEH are represented in this selection. It includes pouches that are often resealable, a dispenser box and a resealable glass jar. Quantities range from a box of 34 to a jar of 2222 filters. Available finishes include white, black, pink, multicoloured and Organic editions in unbleached paper. One GIZEH reference can be reused after drying, and another is designed for multiple uses. The Medusafilters jar can be reused once empty, while one Kailar model features a plastic-free design.

Four points to help you choose

• Diameter: adapt the 5, 5.9, 6, 7 or 9 mm sizes to the desired width.
• Length and shape: compare the space required by a straight, short or conical filter.
• Mouthpieces: choose between ceramic, cellulose, vegan fibre or paper according to the construction.
• Quantity: choose a small package, a spare pouch or a jar.
