Grinders – Herb grinders in aluminium, wood and silicone

Grinders, also called herb grinders, mechanically break down flowers, dried herbs and dry blends. Some silicone models are also designed for hash. A consistent grind makes preparation clean and controlled, particularly for rolling.

The selection ranges from 2 to 4 parts and from 29 to 100 mm in diameter, with many 50 mm models and 62 mm options. It includes aluminium, food-grade silicone and plastic, with, depending on the model, a magnetic closure, diamond-shaped teeth, pins or 27 rotating blades.

2, 3 or 4 parts: what changes

A 2-part grinder combines the lid and grinding area for direct access to the contents. 3- or 4-part constructions may add a fine screen and a collection compartment to collect fine particles separately. Some 4-part models can be used as 3-part grinders when the intermediate compartment is removed. Magnetic lids stabilise the closure, while the textured surfaces of the lid and base improve grip during rotation.

From the 29 mm mini format to the 100 mm XXL grinder

Diameter is a practical criterion for comparing models: 29 and 40 mm correspond to compact formats, 50 mm is widely represented in the selection, while 55, 62 or 63 mm offer a larger grinding surface. The 100 mm XXL grinder is the largest format in the selection. The choice depends on the desired grinding surface, size and ease of handling.

Materials and finishes

Metal grinders, particularly aluminium models, prioritise durability and precise fitting; some are CNC-machined. Anodised finishes enhance the aluminium’s protection against wear. Food-grade silicone provides a naturally non-stick surface and can be cleaned with hot water on the relevant models. The non-stick ceramic coating on some aluminium grinders contains neither PTFE nor Teflon.

Grinders with screens, storage or accessories

On multi-part grinders, a fine screen or pollen screen and a collection compartment complement the grinding area. Depending on the reference, a scraper, brush or both are included. The 3-in-1 grinders and boxes combine a removable 2-piece grinder with two separate storage compartments, stated to hold approximately 7 g of dry flowers and 5 g of ground material. An airtight closure, splash resistance and a detachable wrist strap complete these models.

Grinder maintenance

Regular cleaning helps maintain smooth rotation and consistent grinding quality. The selection also includes a 50 ml liquid cleaner indicated for grinders, pipes and vaporizers, as well as for wood, metal and glass surfaces.
