Is CBD legal in Switzerland?
CBD is not subject to narcotics legislation. In Switzerland, hemp containing less than 1% THC does not fall under this legislation, but its sale remains subject to the rules of the relevant product category, for example those governing foodstuffs, cosmetics or tobacco products.
A THC content below 1% is therefore not, on its own, sufficient to determine whether a product can be sold or used for a given purpose.
Do your products contain THC?
Yes. Some of our products may contain THC, but always in quantities below 1%, in accordance with Swiss legislation. This level is too low to cause psychoactive effects. All our products are legal, tested and compliant with the applicable Swiss requirements.
What is the difference between CBD and THC?
CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are two cannabis molecules.
CBD is not psychoactive: it does not produce a “high”.
THC is the substance responsible for psychotropic effects.
Our products are rich in CBD and contain little or no THC.
Are product analyses available?
All batches sold by Gaiabis comply with Swiss legislation.
We publish analyses for selected products from our brand and from brands that authorise their publication. The documents offered on a product page concern the indicated product or batch.
Product compliance and permission to publish its analysis are two distinct matters: reports are therefore not available for the entire catalogue.

Our products mainly come from carefully selected Swiss producers, chosen for the quality of their cultivation. We favour partners from the canton of Fribourg and other Swiss regions recognised for their expertise in CBD hemp.

From what age can you buy CBD?
In Switzerland, the sale of CBD products is restricted to adults. At Gaiabis, purchases are strictly limited to people aged 18 or over for any order placed on gaiabis.ch.
This rule is intended to ensure responsible consumption in line with the recommendations of the Swiss authorities. Although CBD has no psychotropic effect, it remains a hemp-based product and must be used with discretion.
During the ordering process, age verification is required. Gaiabis reserves the right to cancel any order or block a customer account in the event of doubt or non-compliance with the age requirements, in accordance with its internal prevention and compliance policy.
Is it legal to carry CBD in Switzerland?
Yes, it is legal to carry CBD in Switzerland, provided that the product complies with the applicable legislation.
In Switzerland, CBD-based products are permitted if their THC content does not exceed 1%. This notably includes compliant flowers, resins, oils and derived products.
Carrying CBD for personal use is therefore not illegal, provided that:
- the product complies with the legal THC threshold (≤ 1%)
- it is not a prohibited or non-compliant product
- it is not presented as a medicine
In the event of a check, law enforcement may verify the product’s compliance. It is therefore recommended to keep the original packaging or any information that makes it possible to identify the product.
