CBD oil

CBD oil is a product made from a hemp extract rich in cannabidiol (CBD), mixed with a vegetable oil serving as a carrier. It is one of the most widespread formats in the world of hemp thanks to its ease of use, stability and the possibility of offering different cannabidiol concentrations.

Over the years, CBD oils have become one of the main hemp-derived products. They are available in numerous formulations and may vary according to the extraction method, the raw materials used, the type of extract, the carrier oil and the cannabinoid concentration.

Composition of CBD oil

CBD oil generally consists of two main elements: a hemp extract and a vegetable carrier oil. The latter is most often an MCT oil derived from coconut, hemp seed oil or another vegetable oil suitable for this type of preparation.

The hemp extract may be more or less purified depending on the manufacturing process. Some oils mainly contain cannabidiol, while others also retain various cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids naturally present in the plant.

The exact composition depends on the manufacturer, the hemp variety used, the extraction process and the formulation choices. Two oils displaying the same CBD content may therefore have a different overall composition.

Different types of CBD oils

CBD oils are generally divided into three main families. Full Spectrum oils retain all the cannabinoids and compounds naturally present in the plant. Broad Spectrum oils preserve a large proportion of these compounds while removing THC during manufacture. Oils based on isolate mainly use highly purified cannabidiol.

Each formulation has its own characteristics in terms of composition. The choice depends in particular on the type of extract sought, the manufacturing method and the user's preferences.

Concentrations and formats

CBD oils are available in numerous concentrations, expressed either in milligrams of cannabidiol or as a percentage. They are generally packaged in bottles fitted with a dropper pipette for precise dosing.

Depending on the manufacturer, bottle volumes, available concentrations and carrier oils may vary to meet different uses and preferences.

Manufacturing CBD oils

CBD oil production begins with the extraction of the compounds present in hemp. Several methods may be used, including supercritical CO₂ extraction, ethanol extraction or other processes suitable for plant materials.

Once the extract has been obtained, it is incorporated into a carrier oil to achieve the desired concentration. Quality controls and laboratory analyses are then used to verify the final composition of the product.

CBD oil is one of the products most representative of the hemp market. Alongside CBD flowers, resins, extracts, infusions and cosmetics, it is one of the formats most widely distributed to the general public.
