The plant also produces many terpenes, which account for a large part of its characteristic aromas. Compounds such as myrcene, limonene, pinene, linalool, humulene and caryophyllene contribute to the aromatic diversity observed among different varieties.
These compounds are joined by flavonoids and many other plant molecules that contribute to the chemical richness of cannabis.
Great genetic diversity
Today, cannabis encompasses a very large number of genetic lines developed through selections made by growers over time. This work makes it possible to obtain plants with different characteristics in terms of growth, yield, morphology, aromas or composition.
The terms indica, sativa and hybrid are commonly used to describe certain genetic lines or their genetic origin. Other classifications, such as photoperiodic or autoflowering varieties, describe their development pattern more specifically.
Cultivation and production
Cannabis can be cultivated using different methods, such as indoor, outdoor or greenhouse cultivation. Each technique has its own characteristics and influences the plant's growing conditions.
Final quality depends on many parameters, including genetics, substrate, nutrition, lighting, climate, harvesting, drying, curing and the storage methods used after production.
